- 2250 wines, beers and spirits from 40 countries evaluated by an international jury
The historical hall of the famous Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten, dating back to 1870, is located in the heart of Frankfurt and was the site of 3 tastings on 7 April 2018:
- Frankfurt International Wine Trophy, with 1600 wines from more than 100 vineyards across the world
- Frankfurt International Beer Trophy with 400 beers registered in more than 60 categories
- Frankfurt International Spirits Trophy with 250 spirits registered in 58 categories
The competition has strong ties to the restaurant world and is represented each year by an honorary president of renown (famous German Michelin-starred chef). In 2018, Andreas Krolik, chef at Frankfurt’s Lafleur restaurant (two Michelin stars) was the honorary president of the Frankfurt International Trophy. Andreas Krolik was elected ‘Chef of the Year 2017’ by Gault & Millau.
The Frankfurt International Trophy is also sponsored by Frankfurt mayor Peter Feldmann.

At the Frankfurt International Wine Trophy, tasters awarded medals toa total of 508 Wines. In all, they awarded:
- 40 Grand Gold Medals
- 316 Gold Medals
- 152 Silver Medals
Germany won the most medals (150 including 11 Grand Gold), followed by France (108 including 10 Grand Gold), Spain (71 including 6 Grand Gold), Italy (57 including 2 Grand Gold), Austria (35 including 2 Grand Gold), Portugal (30 including 2 Grand Gold), Greece (19) and Australia (14 including 4 Grand Gold). Switzerland, Israel and Georgia also went home with one Grand Gold medal each.
The wine that obtained the best score for the entire 2018 edition is: DOC Douro Restrito Grande Escolha 2014 de Restrito - Produções Vinícolas Lda. (Portugal)
For France, two wines shared the best score for the 2018 edition:
- AOP Bordeaux - Château les Fermenteaux 2017 - Vignobles Gabriel & Co.
- AOP Bordeaux - Château du Prieur 2016 - Direct Wines Production
The best-represented French regions were: Bordeaux with 50 award-winning wines, followed by the South-West (12 wines), the Champagne region (10 wines), Languedoc (9 wines), Burgundy and the Rhone valley (each with 5 award-winning wines).

At the Frankfurt International Beer Trophy, tasters awarded medals tonearly 120 beers. In all, they awarded a total of:
- 48 Grand Gold Medals
- 55 Gold Medals
- 16 Silver Medals
Germany won the most medals (43 including 19 Grand Gold), followed by the Netherlands (11 including 2 Grand Gold), France (10 including 5 Grand Gold), Switzerland and Poland with 8 medals each, Brazil (7 medals including 4 Grand Gold) and Spain and the Czech Republic with 6 medals each.
The beer that obtained the best score for the 2018 edition is: Colorado Guanabara Wood Aged from Cervejaria Colorado (Brazil)

At the Frankfurt International Spirits Trophy, tasters awarded medals to 77 spirits. In all, they awarded a total of:
- 5 Grand Gold Medals
- 43 Gold Medals
- 29 Silver Medals
Germany won the most medals (34 medals including 3 Grand Gold), followed by France (15 medals), Austria, Hungary and Italy (with 5 medals each), Luxemburg (3 medals) and Slovakia (2 medals).
The spirit that obtained the best score for the 2018 edition is: Zitronenlikoer - Erste Maennerhobby Gmbh & Co. Kg (Germany)
